The MBCA Mission has always been to promote basketball throughout the State of Missouri. We are doing this with over 1,400 members who are provided professional liability insurance through the MBCA, along with accolades for coaches, players and events. We also provide team rankings for all classifications (both girls and boys) weekly throughout the basketball season; we are the only organization in the state that provides this service.

As our association continues to grow, the NHSBCA has been and will continue to be a huge factor in the development of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

MBCA Events

Annual Coaching Clinic (September)
Our Basketball Clinic is held in September. We have over 900 coaches in attendance each year, and we consider this our most successful yearly event.

The Norm Stewart Classic - ("48 hours of High School Basketball")
Our newest event, and we believe it is the only High School Basketball event of its kind in the country. The Classic consists of twenty-four varsity boys and girls games played over a period of 48 hours.

We began on a Friday night at 6:00 pm and play a game every two hours around the clock, finishing at 6:00 pm Sunday evening. The Classic was streamed on ESPN3, featured game announcers, and includes coach and player interviews throughout the event.

We are very excited that The Classic has been such a huge success. Non-profit partners Coaches vs Cancer and Special Olympics Missouri have benefited financially, along with the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

An important change for next year – we will be moving this event to the Mizzou Arena on the campus of the University of Missouri, which we feel will contribute to making a more prestigious event.

Missouri Challenge
For the second year in a row we have had this event coinciding with the weekend of our Class 4 and Class 5 State Championships, held in Springfield, MO; we feel this move has made the Challenge more successful.

This is an event consisting of eight girls and eight boys teams, (representing the eight regions of our state) coming together in one location to play a single elimination tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The regional winner of each bracket will have their names inscribed on a trophy permanently housed in the MBCA section of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield, MO.

MBCA Celebration Weekend (April)
A two-day period in April where we conduct the following events:

1) MBCA Hall of Fame enshrinement held on Saturday in Springfield
2) MBCA Academic All-State and Awards Banquet, held on Sunday in Springfield, with three hundred in attendance
